Description
Testing new drugs for bone diseases requires reliable models that faithfully reproduce human physiology, reducing reliance on expensive animal models that do not always predict the human response. OSTEONET responds by offering a concrete alternative: engineered bone tissue that faithfully reproduces both healthy and pathological biology, directly in a bioreactor.
Objectives
- Develop a bio-inspired and integrated approach for the engineering of healthy and pathological bone tissues (osteopathological aging)
- Create models suitable for use in bioreactors for implantation and preclinical drug screening
- Support basic physiological studies of bone tissue
